Heating · Underfloor
Wet underfloor heating runs warm water through pipes beneath the floor, so the whole room heats gently and evenly with no radiators in the way. It suits extensions, kitchen-diners, bathrooms and any renovation where the floor is coming up anyway, and it works well with boilers and heat pumps.

Signs you need this
Underfloor heating works at lower water temperatures than radiators, which is why it pairs so well with a heat pump, and with a condensing boiler that runs more efficiently when the water coming back to it is cooler. The trade-off is response time: a screed floor takes hours to warm up, so it works best on a steady setting rather than switched on and off like radiators.
The floor build-up decides a lot. A new extension can take insulation and screed with the pipes inside it; an existing room with little height to spare may need a low-profile overlay; a Victorian suspended timber floor usually takes pipes between the joists with spreader plates. The insulation underneath matters as much as the pipe, otherwise you are paying to heat the ground.
How it works
Heat loss, floor build-up and pipe spacing worked out room by room.
We plan with your builder so insulation, pipes and screed happen in the right order.
Pipes are laid and kept under pressure while the floor goes down over them.
Flow rates balanced, controls set and a new screed warmed up gradually.

Questions
Often, yes. Low-profile overlay systems add only a little floor height, and timber floors can take pipes between the joists. We check door thresholds and the floor finish first.
For whole rooms and extensions, a wet system running from a boiler or heat pump is usually cheaper to run. Electric mats can make sense in a small bathroom. We will tell you which suits the room.
Yes, with care. Tile and stone pass heat best. Engineered wood and thinner carpet on a suitable underlay work well; thick carpet and underlay hold heat back. We factor the finish into the design.
