Working with Rossi

The basics.

What areas do you cover?

London and major cities across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Cardiff. Send us your postcode and we will confirm whether we cover it and when we can visit.

Are your engineers Gas Safe registered?

Yes. Every gas job is done by an engineer on the Gas Safe Register. Ask to see their Gas Safe ID card when they arrive: the back lists the types of gas work they are qualified to do, and you can check the card number on the Gas Safe Register website.

What kinds of systems do you work on?

Gas boilers (combi, system and regular), central heating and radiators, hot water cylinders, underfloor heating, air source heat pumps, air conditioning, heating controls and ventilation.

Will I get a price before work starts?

Yes. After we diagnose the problem or survey the job, you get the options and a written quote before any repair or installation work begins.

Do you offer emergency callouts?

Emergency callouts are available by request. Call us, tell us what is happening, and we will tell you honestly how soon we can be there. If you smell gas, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 first.

Do you work with landlords and letting agents?

Yes. We carry out landlord gas safety checks and records, annual servicing and repairs, for a single property or a portfolio. We can arrange access with your tenants and send the paperwork to you or your agent.

Do you install heat pumps under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

Yes. We check whether your property is eligible, design and install the system as an MCS-certified installer, and apply for the grant for you, so it comes straight off the quote. The scheme covers England and Wales; in Scotland, Home Energy Scotland runs its own grants and loans.

Do you work in leasehold flats and listed buildings?

Yes. Many jobs need consent first: a freeholder’s or managing agent’s licence to alter, listed building consent, or planning permission in a conservation area. We help prepare the details, method statements and certificates of insurance they ask for.

How do I book?

Use the booking form, call us or email us. Tell us your postcode, the make and model of the boiler or unit if you know it, and what is going on.

What happens after I submit the form?

You get an email confirming we received it. Then a member of our team calls or emails you to confirm the details and offer a time.

Boilers & jobs

The details.

Which boiler brands do you work on?

All the major brands, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal and Viessmann, and most others you will find in a UK home. If yours is unusual or very old, tell us the make and model and we will tell you whether parts are still available.

Does a boiler service keep my warranty valid?

Usually it is a condition of it. Most manufacturers require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer, recorded in the boiler’s service record, to keep the warranty valid. The terms vary, so check your warranty documents.

How long does a new boiler installation take?

A like-for-like combi swap in the same position is often done in a day. Moving the boiler, converting from a regular or system boiler to a combi, or changing the hot water setup takes longer. You get a timescale with the quote.

Do you take away the old boiler?

Yes. We remove the old boiler, cylinder, tanks or other equipment we replace and dispose of it responsibly, recycling the metal where we can. Refrigerant from old air conditioning units is recovered by an F-Gas certified engineer, as the law requires.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes: offices, retail, restaurants, HMOs and blocks of flats, including planned maintenance and out-of-hours work by arrangement.

By service

Specific systems.

Can I top up the boiler pressure myself?

Usually, yes. Most sealed systems have a filling loop or a built-in filling key under the boiler, and the manual shows how to use it. If you are topping up more than once every few months, there is a leak or a failing part, and that needs an engineer.

Boiler repair

Combi, system or regular: which do I need?

Combis suit flats and smaller homes with one bathroom and good mains pressure. Homes with two or more bathrooms usually do better with a system boiler and a cylinder. Older houses with tanks in the loft sometimes keep a regular boiler to avoid stressing old pipework. We recommend after the survey, not before.

New boilers & replacement

How long does a boiler service take?

Usually around an hour for a domestic boiler, longer if it needs a deeper clean or a part replaced.

Boiler servicing

Should I bleed my radiators?

If they are cold at the top, yes. Turn the heating off, let it cool, open the bleed valve with a radiator key until water appears, then check the boiler pressure. On a sealed system you may need to top it up afterwards.

Central heating & radiators

How do I know if my system needs a powerflush?

Cold bottoms on radiators, dark water when you bleed them and a noisy boiler are the usual signs. We test before recommending one; plenty of systems do not need it.

Powerflushing & system cleaning

Can underfloor heating go into an existing room?

Often, yes. Low-profile overlay systems add only a little floor height, and timber floors can take pipes between the joists. We check door thresholds and the floor finish first.

Underfloor heating

Should I switch from vented to unvented?

If your mains flow and pressure are good enough, it usually means better showers and a clear loft. We measure the supply before recommending it.

Hot water cylinders

Will a heat pump keep my house warm in winter?

A correctly designed system is sized for the coldest weather your area typically sees. It feels different, steady warmth rather than hot radiators, but the rooms should hold the temperature you set.

Air source heat pumps

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning?

It depends on the property and where the outdoor unit goes. Flats, listed buildings and homes in conservation areas often need permission or consent, and leaseholders usually need the freeholder’s consent as well. We check what applies before we quote.

Air conditioning installation

Do you re-gas air conditioning?

Yes, after we find and fix the leak. The system is sealed; if it is low on refrigerant, it has leaked somewhere. Re-gassing without a repair usually means paying twice.

Air conditioning repair

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

Once a year for most homes. Systems used for heating through the winter, and busy commercial spaces, benefit from a visit twice a year.

Air conditioning servicing

Will a smart thermostat work with my boiler?

Most modern boilers work with at least one of the major brands. Some manufacturers’ own controls unlock features third-party thermostats cannot. We check the make and model before recommending one.

Smart thermostats & controls

Will an extractor fan stop the mould?

If the mould comes from condensation, a properly sized, humidity-controlled fan that genuinely vents outside usually makes a big difference. On its own it will not fix a leak, rising damp or a cold spot in the structure, and we will tell you if we think that is the problem.

Ventilation, condensation & mould

What is a CP12?

The common name for the Landlord Gas Safety Record, after an old form number. It records the checks on each gas appliance and flue, any defects found and what was done about them.

Landlord gas safety certificates

Do you provide insurance certificates and RAMS?

Yes. We provide public liability certificates and risk assessments and method statements for your building, landlord or managing agent.

Commercial heating & cooling

Is emergency work more expensive?

Out-of-hours work can cost more. We tell you the price before we send anyone.
