Air conditioning · Servicing

Serviced in spring, ready for the heatwave.

Air conditioning in Britain sits idle for months, then gets switched on in the first heatwave along with everyone else’s. A spring service cleans it, tests it and catches the small faults before they turn into a sweltering week waiting for an engineer.

What’s included

The work, done properly.

  • Filters, indoor coil and fan cleaned to clear dust and mould
  • Condensate drain and pump flushed and tested
  • Outdoor coil cleaned and cleared of leaves and debris
  • Electrical connections and controls checked
  • Refrigerant circuit checked, with leak checks where the rules require them
  • Written report on anything that needs attention

Signs you need this

  • No service in over a year
  • A musty smell when it starts
  • Weaker cooling than last summer
  • Workplace systems with no F-gas records

Dirty filters and blocked drains cause most avoidable summer callouts. A coil caked in dust cannot move heat, so the unit works harder for less cooling, and a damp coil and drain tray left all winter is where the musty smell comes from.

Larger and commercial systems may need regular leak checks under the F-gas regulations, depending on the refrigerant and how much the system holds, and records have to be kept. We tell you what applies to yours and keep the paperwork in order.

Questions

Air conditioning servicing, answered.

How often should air conditioning be serviced?

Once a year for most homes. Systems used for heating through the winter, and busy commercial spaces, benefit from a visit twice a year.

Can you service a system you did not install?

Yes. We service most common makes, and we will tell you if anything about the original installation concerns us.
