Signs you need this

Kettling is the sound of water boiling inside a heat exchanger that sludge or limescale has narrowed. It is hard on the boiler and usually gets worse. A clean system with a filter and inhibitor protects the heat exchanger, which is why boiler manufacturers generally expect the system to be cleaned when a new boiler goes in.
A powerflush is not always the answer. On old systems with tired joints, microbore pipework or thin, corroded radiators, pushing water through hard can find leaks that were waiting to happen. In those cases a slower chemical clean, or replacing the worst radiators, is the better job. We tell you which before we start.

How do I know if my system needs a powerflush?
Cold bottoms on radiators, dark water when you bleed them and a noisy boiler are the usual signs. We test before recommending one; plenty of systems do not need it.
Can a powerflush cause leaks?
On a sound system, no. On an old one it can expose weak joints or corroded radiators that were close to failing. We check first and use the gentler method when the system calls for it.
Is a magnetic filter worth it?
For most systems, yes. It catches magnetite before it reaches the boiler, and we empty it at each service so you can see what it caught.
